Drs. Mearns and Sawyer have been colleagues and close friends for well-over a decade. They have more than 30 years of combined experience in high-acuity emergency medicine. They are proud to bring their expertise, compassion, and dedication to the Wilmington community and beyond.

Together they deliver trusted, personalized care rooted in experience, integrity, and a genuine connection to the people they serve.

Dr. Mearns has called Wilmington home since 1989. Married with two daughters, he enjoys fishing, traveling, golfing and flying. As an instrument-rated private pilot he combines his love of aviation with his medical expertise to serve the aviation community.

Dr. Josh Sawyer, MD, FACEP, FAAEM, AME

Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine

Dr. Sawyer is originally from New Bern, NC. He has lived in Wilmington since 2013 with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys playing golf, snow skiing, and traveling with his family. He is deeply committed to serving patients with excellence and care.
